Behind the face,
a human being.
In a portrait, I look for the moment a pose gives way to a natural expression. No expectations, no need to perform. Simply meeting the human being in front of the lens.
I photograph the face, its vulnerability and strength. Natural light, subtle greys and real skin texture leave room for emotion. I retouch sparingly to preserve each human being’s individuality.
For me, black and white means paying attention to the present moment. To a gaze, a gesture and a sense of closeness. To feelings that need no explanation.
